Link has begun a running tally of Days Until Christmas. This is very exciting to him since we’ve reached single digits. And even more so now that we’ve rounded the corner of the weekend and Christmas is THIS WEEK! Kiki is excited as well, but much more quietly. Gleek has absolutely no sense of time at all. For her if it isn’t Right Now, it is too far away. Patches is clueless, but enjoys the general excitment in the air.
Yesterday Howard tried to introduce Link to the intricasies of Holiday Counting. 6 days to Christmas, but christmas day doesn’t actually count, so it’s only 5 days. And today is half over, so we don’t need to count it. So that’s only 4 days. Oh, but school gets out on Wednesday, so it is really like Christmas begins then, so it is only TWO days.
Link looked at him like he was nuts. Link knows how to count, and that was just silly.
I’m counting down the days til Christmas, too. Know what my favorite part’s going to be? Sleeping in.
In a house with 4 excited young children, I doubt any sleeping in will happen here. I envy you your sleep.
My kids are going nuts! The other morning, Xander went down stairs to see if Santa had visited yet. He came up stairs so sad and had to crawl in bed with me and cuddle. I’m hoping that I can get some semblance of Christmas spirit soon, ’cause it really sucks not wanting to celebrate. And I’m positive, there will be no sleeping in here either since my kids NEVER sleep in. 🙂

When I was little. It so confused me that I’m now 36 years old and still have trouble figuring out if Christmas Eve is on the night of the 24th or the night of the 25th and does Christmas Eve Day come before or after Christmas Eve and is Christmas Eve Day just another name for Christmas Day Eve….I usually get it straight about a week before Christmas, but every year around Thanksgiving I have a small panic attack as I try to figure it out all over again…Thanks Dad.
Thinking about it now, I realize it was probably the best gift he ever gave me. I always end up thinking about him and then calling to say “Remember when you told me….” 🙂
