I really enjoyed it. I love the idea that a “Chosen One” might chose something else and derail a prophecy. I guess I’m a big fan of Free Agency even if it means people are free to choose evil.
As the opening title began to roll I realized that this would be the last ever Star Wars movie. That makes me very sad.
While I’m sad there will be no more movies…
The fact that apparently only one out of three didn’t stink worries me should he try again…
And hey, he can always go back and “fix” stuff like he did with episodes 4-6…

Did he really derail the prophecy?
Not having seen number 3, I could be way off base here… but as I remember the prophecy was that “the chosen one would bring Balance”. (OK I only saw numbers 1 & 2 once, possibly twice, so I am likely to have forgotten specifics)
If a small group of beings (the Jedi) held that amount of power, with little out there to get in their way (one or two Darth’s, not incredibally strong or they would have done something earlier), wouldn’t it be a balance to bring into the world one who was as powerful as the Jedi Council? therefore bringing balance to the good/evil world?
So, at least from what I remember, it seemed that he was likely to fulfill the prophecy, it is just that the prophecy was not what everyone expected.
Or am I mis-remembering the prophecy? Or something new came out in E3 that I don’t know…
Re: Did he really derail the prophecy?
You’re right. In the Star Wars universe Anakin’s choices actually seem to be the fulfillment of a dark prophecy that was misread. That doesn’t change my liking for the idea of a prophecy derailed by choices though.
They’re making a Star Wars TV series…11 episodes have been done or are in the process of being done 🙂
Somehow an episodic TV series doesn’t have the same feel to me. I’ll see if it gets good reviews from people who’s taste I trust and then I’ll rent it on DVD.
As I read it, Annikin did bring Ballance to the Force. He broke the back of the council and destroyed the Sith Lords. The new dark siders are much less powerful than the old ones and the light siders aren’t nearly as uptight and unbending as the Council was. Pawn of Prophecy all the way. (The force was horribly unballanced toward the light side at the end of the republic. There is no way that two Sith Lords could have destroyed the republic had Good not been Stupid.)
