Bugs Bunny

We own the Looney Tunes Golden Collection volume 1. (Great collection, I just wish it had more roadrunner.) Looney Tunes was a part of my childhood. It makes me really happy to share some of that with my kids. So, today when I walked in on Gleek, Link, & Patches watching Looney Tunes I was even more delighted that they each were munching on a large carrot. Apparently Bugs Bunny promotes healthy snacking habits. Yay Bugs!

  1. Have you seen the Wallace and Gromit movie? Attack of the Were-Rabbit?
Wallace is eating a carrot and Gromit walks in and Wallace says, “Eh, What’s up dog?” I appreciate references to Bugs Bunny.
Maybe it’s the PC world we live in these days, but, after not seeing Looney Toons for a while and then watching it, it seemed pretty violent. Just like Tom and Jerry, etc. I still love it. I learned to always look up and watch out for falling anvils from Looney Toons. : ) Very Important.

  2. Pepe le pieu is my mom’s favorite character from that show.

Me, with my operatic bent? I adore the Wagner sequences (“Kill da wabbit”). They just.. well, they totally rock.

Of course it’s violent, but it’s cartoon violence. Over the top, obviously silly, and not at all like the “Realistic” violence they get from some of their current TV shows. I don’t remember any kid that I’ve ever known saying “hey! Let’s jump off that cliff like Wile E Coyote!” but I’ve seen lots of kids do the Power Rangers Talk-With-Your-Arms and hit each other thing.

    Bugs Bunny rocks. And carrots!

  3. Hahaha! Yikes!

HAHAHA! I *totally* did that as a kid! I am such a product of the system.

Hee, show them some Popeye next–that also worked on me. I still love Spinach to this day.

  4. Yes! I too was introduced to opera by Bugs. And not just the Kill the Wabbit song; the Barber of Seville, the Marriage of Figaro (not to give away the ending, but he gets married….) all of which I now own recordings of.

Oh, and Bugs was an absolutely smashing Carmen.
