vending

I was at Link’s school today and I noticed a vending machine in the hallway. My first thought was frustration that they were making treat food so readily available to gradeschool kids. Then I got closer to the machine and realized that it was full of books. Yes books. For $3 or less kids could buy popular/trendy children’s titles. I love that idea. I wish more places had book vending machines.

  1. That’s nifty! Really turns the whole instant-gratification theory of vending machines to good use.

I was at the Science World in Vancouver over the weekend, and in the “Inventions and Contraptions” section, in the corner, there was a vending machine full of “invention kits” in paper envelopes. $5 gets you instructions and some wires and a battery, and some lights or a couple motors or materials for a little airplane or something. I thought it was a cool idea, but I think I like the book one better.

  3. Sounds good to me. The other one I’ve seen is a vending machine with granola and pencils and paper and tape.

Automats were such a cool idea. commented that he found a DVD rental vending machine.

  5. I wish they didn’t have treats so readily available at my job. I guess they don’t believe in a healthy work force. A children book vending machine would be far healthier for me and my co-workers.
