Mice part III or is it IV?

I’ve got mice skittering in my walls again. This is shaping up to be an annual fall annoyance. Grr.

  1. I heard something upstairs – probably in the attic spaces – today. I just hope it’s not a squirrel again. It’s clear to me that summer is over: I guess everyone’s looking for a warm place to settle in for the winter.

  2. I’m not convinced. I think our cat causes a net increase in the mouse population of our house. She does kill some occupants, but she also brings in live toys, which then manage to escape. The worse news is that a number of the escapees are only half alive, and proceed to die behind some other furniture.

At least a humane mouse trap either kills or misses. (Please don’t be confused by those cruel traps that capture rather than kill. Mice are territorial; if you release within the territory, they will come right back; if you release outside the territory, they will die slowly.)

  3. My primary reason for owning a cat wouldn’t be for vermin control. No other animal is capable of that soothing purr. Unfortunately I AM allergic and so cats aren’t an option.
