I stopped at 7 garage sales this morning. At the first sale (given by a neighbor) I acquired two pairs of tap shoes for free and a good pair of boots for Patches for $.25. At the remaining 7 sales I got nothing. This is normal and wouldn’t have been frustrating except at the next to last sale there was a beautiful set of bunkbeds. They were $50 and they’d already sold. Having missed out on a set of $50 bunkbeds soured the whole expedition. But that particular sale did not advertise in the paper, I just happened to drive by it and stop. If I’d seen an advertisement for bunkbeds, I would have gone there first.
So now I’m hot, hungry, grumpy and have little to show for 90 minutes, 8 bucklings of children, and however many miles of driving. Grr.
*hugs*
I don’t miss the feeling of coordinating army maneuvers whenever I took my children somewhere when they were little. It still takes some time with them as teenagers, but now it feels like directing special forces, instead of infantry.
I do hope you get some Sandra-time today.

It’s only a few weeks into the season. There will be dozens of other sales, other weekends. And, given the information you had available at the time, there was nothing you could have done about the bunk beds.
Seven sales in 90 minutes is spectacular time, even without kids in tow. Considering your philosophy is “in order to continue cartooning, I’ll spend time to save money”, I’d say you have nailed that skill of squeezing every penny out of time, too.
You’ve got three sets of shoes to show for 25 cents and some gas and time. Not bad. You know those boots and tap shoes will get used. And Gleek will get much joy out of the shoes at her dance classes.
Speaking of dance classes, how are those going for her?
(Glad to see the box arrived and is serving its purpose of Spreading Fun Around *g*)

And new, those three pair of shoes would probably be $40-$50. Not a bad income, for 90 minutes. I’ve never made that much an hour.

Good point. Maybe I’ll stop feeling grumpy now.

Thanks for a happier view of this morning’s expedition.
The box is already much appreciated and we haven’t even touched most of what was in it yet. Where on earth did you acquire all those brand new games? They all look fascinating.
Thank you!

Just in case you weren’t aware, http://www.craigslist.org/ has good avertisements for stuff for sale/giveaway. You have to go to your city(and sometimes cities around you. Living in Baltimore I have to check out DC, Virginia, and Baltimore as people post in the section they use frequently, not the one they live in). Lots of time, people are just trying to clear out storage(got a free washing machine from someone a week after ours broke, only hitch was I had to take the set. So then we found someone who needed a dryer and gave that away)
