I’ve discovered a problem with our shipping system. Howard gets all the email saying how wonderful the book is and how it arrived in perfect shape. I get all the emails telling how the books got damaged or there were items missing. I can usually resolve the issues very quickly and the customers then sing our praises and are completely happy, but I’m still left with a gnawing feeling that our system needs yet another overhaul. Logically I know that mistakes are inevitable when shipping 1300 packages in 2 days, but that doesn’t make it any better for the one person in 100 whose order was filled incorrectly. Experience tells me that I’ll have about a month of stray order corrections. I really wish we could get it all done perfectly the first time. I tried really hard to get it all perfect.

Well, for what it’s worth, I opened up the box containing my sketch-edition of The Blackness Between today, and it’s perfect. The cardboard box-mailer meant that the postman didn’t try to mangle it into the mailbox this time (last time, he bent it along the wrong axis, cracking the spine instead of merely curling the book).
So, here’s one satisfied customer. Thanks a lot for all the work you’ve put in to get this book to me (and everyone else). You definitely don’t hear that enough.

You can be the beautiful, courageous and wonderful human that you are
OR
you can be perfect.
I’ll take what we already have, if you care for my vote on the subject.

You are correct, and I’m very sorry for my oversight…
Sandra, my book arrived in 100% perfect condition. As I mentioned, there was a dent/bend along the top edge, but that was from a hard toss before I realized what was in this odd FedEx package for me. My bad, and I fixed it with two text books. It arrived LONG before everyone else got thier’s. As always, ordering was a breeze, and please inform Kiki that the stamping job was especially well done… 😉
Next book I buy, I want YOUR signature on, right above Howard’s… You are every ounce as important to the strip as he is, and we all know it… Without you… Well, I don’t want to consider it… Too horrible to contemplate…
Deal?

Plus, she’s… You know… The wife… Which means she’s in charge… 🙂
At least, the girls I date always say that’s how that works…

Both of my orders arrived in perfect condition, as did the order of the first book several months ago.

Re: *clears his throat*
Heck, I’d pay extra for a dual-Tayler-signature edition.
How about it for book 3, Sandra? Shameless marketing, but some of us are shameless fans.

Sandra –
I can’t imagine the process you two’ve set up without your input…. You managed to keep things going MOST impressively.
*grin* You even got Howard to *gasp* DRAW STUFF!
I just hope I wasn’t the cause for problems with packages!

Thus far I haven’t been able to track a single error to something you did. Most of the errors have been missing books in multiple book orders. Those error is easily corrected. Most of them are likely problems with my pre-sorting job rather than problems with volunteers.

I must admit, If I’m being -really- picky, my books (hey, so I’m slow at getting the first one 🙂 arrived with a small dent at the middle top – I figure someone dropped it, at some point. Yay international post. *shrug*
However, it’s no worse than what will happen to it as I read it (about 10 times, probably) over the next two or three months. And I’ve seen worse damage on things that were -far- better packed, so I can’t complain there, either. 🙂
So I’m happy. 🙂 More than happy.
… in fact, I went out of my way to avoid ordering during the sketches, since I figure any time Howard spends sketching in books is time he’s spending not sketching the comic… Priorities, y’know 🙂
